New York City 2-Week Summer Writing Program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Teen Ink NYC Summer Writing Program is for girls who are currently in grades 9-12.  Now in its sixth year, this is a wonderful two-week program from June 26 - July 12.  The program includes creative writing classes, individual mentoring, Broadway shows, museums, guest speakers and more.  Attendees and teachers stay in dorms at the Juilliard School at Lincoln Center in NYC.  For an online application and more detailed information email: NYC@TeenInk.com.
Upcoming meetings
  • Oct 29, Nov 12 [postponed until 11.19 ], (Nov 26 is a holiday), Dec 3 (yearbook photos only, immediately after school), Dec 10, (Dec 24 is a holiday)
    Room  158 from 2:15-3:15p.m. Listen to voice and PNN anouncements for last minute changes.
Recaping last meeting (Oct. 22):  We may be moving the location of the meeting, as other clubs meeting in the area are distracting.  If we move, the door to room 158 will have a notice indicating where to meet us.
(Nov. 19): Chain poems completed :)  Decision to have an editorial board with members specializing in genres and/or mediums.  Next time : focus on color.
Theme
Club members have selected a theme for this year's literary magazine.  The theme is "undefined"/"ambiguity."  We'll be accepting a limited number of entries that use this theme as inspiration throughout the magazine.  As always, work of any theme will be accepted for publication consideration.
Cover
We've decided to create a multimedium cover using photography and colored line drawings.  If you have something to contribute to this purpose, please let Ms. Jones know.
Submissions
We are actively accepting original, unpublished work from all students.  It is not necessary to be a club member to submit work!  Work may be edited for content and/or length.
MEETING!
Please have transportation following meetings or be willing to remain in the library until 4 p.m. if you are taking the activity buses.
Bring something you are working on to share.  There are many outlets to publish in, and several contests are also available.
Artists "In Residence" Needed
Are you an artist?  The literary magazine is planning to have several online editions next year, and we need your talents to illustrate our magazine!  Join us in the fall at the Creative Writing Club meetings :)
Please also consider submitting a drawing, photograph or painting to the literary magazine.  Black and white images are prefered for reproduction purposes.
Submissions for 2008-2009 Edition CLOSED
Thank you to all those who submitted work.  This 30th edition promises to be a nice one!
The Creative Writing club would like to pull together it's annual literary magazine publication.  Submit your artwork and original short stories, poems, or even lyrics to the literary magazine.
E-mail your submissions!
You can now e-mail your work to the literary magazine.  Send your Rich text format (RTF) or Microsoft Word (DOC) files to : JONESRA@PWCS.EDU.  You may also scan in artwork or photographs and save as JPEG or GIF files.
